#39 Ocqueoc Falls

This is Ocqueoc Falls the last week of 2018. I had that week off work for the holidays and went up to the U.P. to see Tahquamenon Falls. On the way back we stopped here. Tahquamenon and Ocqueoc Falls are the first falls I’ve been to in the winter and I am so glad I went. Just beautiful. Ocqueoc are one of the few falls that are in the mitten, but there are 300 or more in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.

This is a close-up of the fall.

While looking at that big chuck of ice and snow, I saw this one little spout shooting out of it. I zoomed in to get a closer look at it for you.

As the sign says, this is a state forest; just one of many in Michigan.

Turtles. For some reason we didn’t see any on this occasion. I wonder why?

See these “steps.” I saw a video on You Tube of these falls. There was a boy in a wheelchair. He decided to get out of his wheelchair and scoot down these steps himself instead of choosing the easier way down the ramp. That impressed me. The video is only around a couple minutes long and it was inspiring. Check it out. It was called Accessible Ocqueoc Falls, CJ’s story. I sure hope you can find it! Oh, the video was obviously taken in the summer. This is a great place to swim!

I came in December because that’s when I had time off. I wonder if it gets completely frozen in February. One of these years I might have to check that out.

This is a better shot of those steps.

These falls are wheelchair accessible and this is the ramp.

This is my friend Linda. It was her idea to come and she invited me along. I’m glad she did. I love adventures.

This and the picture below are views while walking up the ramp.

This open area is what’s between the parking lot and the falls.

Love that sky.

I took this shot on our drive home later that day. That’s all folks – but it’s enough!
