Rejoice! It’s the year of Jubilee!

It’s time to rejoice! It’s the year of Jubilee!

Or, is it?

To be honest – I don’t know. I looked it up on the internet. Some were saying yes, we are in a Jubilee year right now. Others said it was 2019 or 2020, etc. etc. Everyone does seem to agree that it’s supposed to be once every 50 years.

My opinion? It sure feels like a jubilee year! Let’s see how the bible describes it.

Leviticus 25: 8-13 Count off seven sabbaths of years – seven times seven years – so that the seven sabbaths of years amount to a period of forty-nine years. Then have the trumpet sounded everywhere on the tenth day of the seventh month; on the Day of Atonement sound the trumpet throughout your land. Consecrate the fiftieth year and proclaim liberty throughout the land to all its inhabitants. It shall be a jubilee for you; each one of you is to return to his family property and each to his own clan. The fiftieth year shall be a jubilee for you; do not sow and do not reap what grows of itself or harvest the untended vines. For it is a jubilee and is to be holy for you; eat only what is taken directly from the fields.

It mentions proclaiming liberty. All around the world, countries are fighting against communism. Here in the USA, we are in a battle to hold on to our freedom. I believe that God is going to give us freedom and liberty from the communist control that has seeped into many aspects of our lives and country. I believe that God is going to bring out into the light the corruption and evil that has been going on throughout the world and many will be held accountable. I’m not a prophet, but this is my hope and belief. God is not happy with the corruption and the abuse of children that’s been going on.

Deuteronomy 15: 1-2 At the end of every seven years you must cancel debts. This is how it is to be done: Every creditor shall cancel the loan he has made to his fellow Israelite. He shall not require payment from his fellow Israelite or brother, because the LORD’s time for cancelling debts has been proclaimed.

In Old Testament days, if you owed someone money, you would become their servant (or slave) until the debt was paid off. Every seven years and every jubilee year, debts were to be cancelled and people were to be set free.

A Jubilee year is very different from the norm. This last year has been unusual to say the least and I don’t think it’s over yet. I keep hearing weird things and I have no idea if they’re true or not. Some say there is going to be a financial reset. Some say we’re going back to a gold-backed system. Some say all debts are going to be forgiven. (Now, don’t go out and get into debt thinking it will go away, because I’m just trying to figure all this out. I could be totally wrong.) Lies and misinformation abound on the internet so I don’t know what to believe. It seems impossible, but…. If God is behind it, anything is possible. We’ll just have to wait and see.

I now want to share with you a verse about “The Year of the Lord’s Favor.” I find it exciting.

Isaiah 61: 1-2 The Spirit of the Sovereign LORD is on me, because the LORD has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners, to proclaim the year of the LORD’s favor and the day of vengeance of our God, to comfort all who mourn.

Why does this excite me? If I understand correctly, The Year of the Lord’s Favor and the Year of Jubilee are the same thing. (I don’t know much about the year of jubilee, so I could be wrong. You can do further research on it if it interests you.) It mentions freedom for the captives and release from darkness. You won’t hear about it on the fake news, but on the internet I’ve been hearing about lots of children this past year who have been victims of human trafficking and worse… who have been found! Some have even been living underground their whole life. They’ve never seen sunlight. They have a long, hard transition ahead of them, but their life of captivity is over! This just lifts my heart and brings me such joy to hear. It truly is cause to celebrate. To be jubilant. It definitely feels like a year of jubilee! I have been praying for the missing children. They have been on my heart.

One more big aspect about jubilee is rest. God is big on us having rest. We’re supposed to rest on the seventh day (Saturday). The jubilee is supposed to be a year of rest also. God wants us to work and be responsible, but he loves us so much that it’s important to him that we also rest.

I feel that we’re getting close to the start of the last seven years before Jesus returns again. I also think that we’re being given a few years of grace first for revival and we are going to see God’s power and glory. Rejoice! We could be living in a year of jubilee!
