If you start this scenic drive from the east side, you get to begin by looking down on the town of Copper Harbor, Lake Superior and Lake Fanny Hooe. Not a bad beginning.
Then, of course, there’s the beautiful mountain views.
Let’s not forget the fields that are starting to show their colors.
At the scenic overlook, you can see Lake Fanny Hooe. That tree is bending to the wind just a little.
This map shows that we’re at the beginning (or end) of the scenic drive and what a beginning it is!
Lake Superior. Lake Fanny Hooe and the town of Copper Harbor.
Now we’re in the mountains.
Still one more view of the lakes we’re leaving behind as we climb up Brockway.
We were a little early (third week of September, 2019) for the colors to be in full force, but the green sure is pretty too and we did get an occasional splash of color.
Looks like an ordinary country road.
But there’s nothing ordinary about this scenic drive.
Gorgeous.
Steep drop!
Geesh.
You gotta love it!
They had a few barrier walls. No driving off a ledge here. Not in this spot anyways.
This is a view to the west.
That’s got to be Lake Superior way in the distance.
I love lakes that have no buildings on them and the trees go all the way to the water with no clearings, boats or anything. It’s nice to have a few like that so you can imagine what it was like way back when.
God’s getting his paints warmed up. A dash of color here and a dash there. He’s just starting.
This is what we saw last. It looks like we ended where most people start, but I have a tip for you. Silver River Falls isn’t far from this sign. You have to see that too!
