Wow. That’s what I kept thinking from the beginning of this novel, Retail Girls, all the way to the end. It grabs your attention and doesn’t let go.
Cynthia Cole, the main character, has an experience as a young child that causes her to start having nightmares. As she gets older, it escalates to hallucinations. By the time she graduates from college, things are out of control. She isn’t quite sure what’s real and what isn’t any more. It gets to the point where she doesn’t want to be a victim to her “nightmares” any more and she confronts head-on what’s been terrifying her and ruining her life.
Things get a little crazy and you’ll be turning the pages to see what happens next. I would love to tell you, but that would ruin it for you.
Don’t let the term “retail girls” lead you astray. The retail girls that Cynthia meets are anything but typical. They’re down-right scary.
This isn’t a genre that I normally read, but I work with K.B. and I know what a creative, imaginative person he is, so I was excited about it. I had high expectations and Retail Girls met and surpassed it.
