I heard a statement that surprised me, but it definitely was true. They said that you know who the true God is by the name people use to curse things or people.
Have you ever heard someone who slammed their finger in the door shout out “Mohammed!”
Have you ever heard someone use the sun, Buddha or Baal to curse someone or something to hell?
No, I’m guessing that you haven’t. Who’s name do they use? They use the precious holy name of Jesus Christ or God Almighty; something along those lines. They don’t use the name of Buddha, Baal or Mohammed because those names mean nothing; they hold no real power. Even people who are worshipping false gods or say there is no god, know deep in their heart that there is a God and they know who that God is. They may not admit it, not even to themselves, but the knowledge is in their subconsciousness and they are suppressing it.
Why do people attack Christians and the Jewish people more than any other group? Again, it’s because they know, whether they admit it or not, that the God of the bible is the one, true God.
People, we need to stop using God’s name for cursing. Instead, we need to use it for praise and blessings.
The real authority on this is God, so I’m going to list some bible verses below.
Exodus 20:7 You shall not misuse the name of the LORD your God, for the LORD will not hold guiltless anyone who misuses his name.
If you’ve used his name wrongly in the past, you can repent and receive forgiveness.
James 1:26 If anyone considers himself religious and does not keep a tight rein on his tongue, he deceives himself and his religion is worthless.
James 3:9-10 With the tongue we praise our Lord and Father, and with it we curse men, who have been made in God’s likeness. Out of the same mouth come praise and cursing. My brothers, this should not be.
Matthew 15:18 But the things that come out of the mouth come from the heart, and these make a man ‘unclean.’
May the God of heaven (Father, Son and Holy Spirit) bless you and lead you on the right path.
Hello again. I posted this yesterday and then I later remembered a true story that happened over twenty years ago that goes along with this subject.
I was working a part-time job at a clothing store in Birch Run and I worked with mostly teen-agers. The first week of January our store closed for a couple of days to do inventory. It was a big job, so management said we could recommend friends and relatives to work doing the inventory.
One of the young ladies had a friend of hers come in. His name was Joseph. The manager pared me with Joseph to work together. Right away, he made a comment about us being like Joseph and Mary in Bethlehem. I laughed and was glad to see he had a sense of humor. It would make the long night ahead of us a lot more fun.
He had me laughing several times and two more times he made references about God or the bible. I was curious and asked him if he was a Christian.
“No,” he said. “I’m an atheist.”
“Oh,” I said. “For being an atheist, you sure talk about God a lot.”
For the first time, he didn’t have a quick response. He thought about it and then said, “You’re right. I do talk about God a lot.”
The reason I’m telling you about this is because this is a good example of someone who said he didn’t believe in God, but God was obviously on his mind quite often. I think there was a tiny part of him that wondered if maybe he was wrong.
Psalms 19:1 The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands.
When you look at all the amazing creations in this world; from a tiny ladybug to the huge oceans and the heavenly bodies in the sky, you have to know this was no accident. A divine creator created all this, including us. He would love to hear from you.
Matthew 7:7 “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened.
The irony :))
