#37 Bond Falls

 

It’s hard to rate a falls beauty because they’re all unique with their own charms. Bond Falls are amazing and they’re wheelchair accessible! This fact makes them extra special to me. I guess I’m a little biased because of a friend of mine who had to get around in a wheelchair. So much was off limits to her. It just excites me when everyone has an equal opportunity to experience something like this.

 

You have great views from the bottom and it’s a nice, easy walk (or roll). If you want more of a challenge, you can follow the path up the river and there’s plenty more to see.

This little feller was on top of a garbage can. Probably hoping I brought him lunch. Nope. I only brought myself and my camera.

When we came it wasn’t even Memorial Day weekend yet. It was the middle of May 2018. This was the only picnic table out and it’s wheelchair accessible. Maybe they bring more out when the tourist season starts or maybe they don’t. It’s possible they don’t want to encourage too much picnicking because that can attract bears.

 

 

I’m going to take you up the side of the falls first. The last pictures will be of the bottom of the falls where we start and it’s all paved or boarded walkways.

 

 

 

 

 

 

It was middle May and not a lot of growth yet, but some plants were starting to push up through the ground.

 

 

The walkway up the falls varies. Some spots are easy climbing and some not as much.

 

 

That’s me unable to contain my astonishment. I get so excited at these falls. It never gets old.

We’ve got some fishermen wading in up there. Is it safe to do that? I don’t know, but they think so.

There’s just so much to take in.

 

 

As you know, I like to show the path so you can decide for yourself if it’s right for you. This part is easy; just a little incline.

 

 

 

 

 

 

We’re near the top of the falls now. We kept going up until we got to a road and a picnic area. Some people start at the top and go down.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

This part of the path is a little rougher.

 

 

 

We got to see birds, ducks and squirrels while we were there. You can see the duck if you look close.

Now we’re back at the bottom with the boardwalk.

Here is a no-barrier viewing area for those in wheelchairs and great for children too.

Why did I save the wheelchair accessible outhouses for last? Because you won’t want to leave until you need to use one of these!
